Mathilde de l'Ecotais likes to say that one can « swim in a photograph». For years, she has explored this dialogue between water, light and image. This research gave rise to a unique technique, which she created and patented in 2014, allowing photography to become part of matter, to be experienced as much as viewed.

She speaks of a practical art — an art that serves a purpose, that goes beyond contemplation to become an experience.
Whenever she stands before one of her monumental prints, she feels the same emotion: seeing light play across the surface, pass through the water and create organic reflections that could never have been imagined beforehand.
